The holy shrine of Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS), who is the eighth Imam of the Shias. The shrine of Imam Reza (AS) is the largest mosque in terms of area and the second largest population in the world. Mashhad is the short term Mashhad al-Reza and it means the place of martyrdom and the name of the city that has been formed in the center of Imam Rezas burial place in Sanabad. The body of Imam Reza (AS) was buried in this city in 203 AH.
